From consumer shopping and payment systems to driverless cars, the consequences of an electronic security breach are high-priority issues for individuals, companies and organizations. The CU Cyber Security Mini School – an eight-week, non-credit program for professionals and community members – provides an opportunity to learn about this critical topic. The course is being taught by Jesus Borrego, PhD, an adjunct professor of information assurance at the CU Denver business school, and has been teaching computer and technology courses for over 20 years.

Participants will explore security breaches in headlines, experience hands-on security demonstrations and discuss approaches to protecting and securing individual and enterprise assets to minimize digital security breaches.

There are over 10,000 job openings in cyber security in Colorado right now. The goal with this mini school is to generate interest in this topic and hopefully see some people pursue it further. With the right training, employment in the industry is almost guaranteed as is the comfort in knowing students are more equipped to keep themselves and their private information safe and secure.

There is no homework, tests or required readings – just a great opportunity to learn about cyber security and information assurance from a CU expert.
